Panda is having errors (specifically error 0036 with winpatch 1.3) when he tries to upgrade from Pr1-MP3.
If he tries it on the inremental route he is getting core file problems when upgrading from MP2 to MP2.1

Has he tried a complete clean and reinstall?
The core file is the big problem with the MekPak - gives it fits if it's different by the slightest amount.
When loading from Pr1 it is expecting to see a Pr1 version of core - if not then no go. Same for the incrementals - 2.1a is not seeing the core it expects from a 2.1 - any kind of 'extras' will throw this off.
That's why i have to do a reinstall again..
Course I have done a cheat and just replaced the core file with the one from the disc and then did the update and faked it out. Not sure if that would work twice though.

We managed to fix it shortly after the post. Weirdly trying to use the 98 patcher for 2->2.1 managed to ram through whatever was causing the blockage and the MP2 -> 2.1 decided to take and it was a cake walk from there on in.

actually he still does..but network now..
his MP are all installed and up to version, he logs on to MekMatch and i can see his server and version number, i can get game details on it but it does not return mekmatches Ping and i can not join it..i can not see his server at all in direct IP
does this sound familiar to anyone?
he swears he is useing the same router settings that worked before..and he can play in other games...im going to go over his settings this morning...if you remember he had a HD crash and had reinstall everything

One thing to try, would be to reset the router!
Seriously. I had a somewhat similar problem a few years back, just about everything else worked just dandy, except for Mechwarrior. I could see servers, but I couldn't join them. I checked absolutely everything and finally out of frustration I did a full reset on the router, entered everything exactly as it was, and it worked.
effed if I know what would cause the router to not work for that one particular game, but that's what it was.

The only problem there Freelancer is that the guys from AT&T set up Panda's router for him. I'm not certain how able he would be to re-input all the data
