Hi guys...

Yet another newbie issue (and maybe a computer question in the end.)
When I DL the mekTek packs and maps to what sub-folder in the MW4 Mercs folder do I send them?
And is the Boot camp map downloadable or do I have to get at it through the server? :>]

Thnks for all the help so far...this place is the BEST!

When you click on the exe for the mekpaks and maps they should load up to the correct folders all by themselves. The only time you would have to direct the installation is if you have more than one Mercs install. Then just direct it to the one you want to update. Same with the maps.

The latest edition of Banzai bootcamp is available here. Have fun. Some of the Team Banzai members were used for the voice overs on the map. I'll let you try to guess who matches up to which voice. smile.gif

Thanks again for the link! UH at present modem speed it'll take 2hours and some change to DL, so I think I'll do that tonight before the kids and I head off to Tae Kwon Do , as it is in my case, Tae Kwon D'oh!
I saw a buttload of maps there, Rat are those all I need to play on the Banzai servers (after I get the mekTek Packs, th at is)? blink.gif

I think the VOS series maps are on the current map cycle. I need to check. The maps that come with Mercs and the Mekpaks should be good for about 90% of the time on Ronin.

smile.gif thanks again Rat. If Ic an get my video issue handled I might be ablew to get online sooner than I thought.

Hey, regarding the Mek Paks.... I've found lots of info about Version 2.1, but not 3 and beyond. Is there some particular reason for this? Wasn't it adopted by the community like 2.1 was?

I am are confusizzled. eek13.gif
Rat
I'm not sure about other leagues but MP3.01 is the official version used by MWL for all league play.
Sinitron
Well, it seems to be much less talked about, for whatever reason... I find lots of in-game pics of the 'Mechs in MP2, but none of the ones in MP3. It just seems kinda strange...
Rat
That might be because there are alot less people playing Mercs now than there was when MP2 came out. sad.gif

Lameness... sad.gif

Meh, I'm recruiting atleast two fellers into the game. Counts for something, right?
Thunderbolt
OKay I now have everything either installed or ready to install except for the mech packs (Clan and IS) are THOSE available for Downloading anywhere (he asked hopefully)?? Pleaseohpleaseohpleaseohplease let them be !

I believe they have some funky copy-protection stuff that disables that option... Might be wrong, though.

Either way, pirated stuff tends to work less than effectively in online play. So even if you do get your hands on it, it might ruin everything.

Personally, I'd look around eBay and see if I could snag a cheap copy. That, however, is HARD.

Yeah I thought of that but I NEVER and I mean *FRICKIN NEVER* get to bid on ebay without some slob with bidding software sliding in under the wire and out bidding me by 5 cents. If it doesn't have a "buy now" tag next to it I refuse to get lured in! I'll poke around though and see what I can find. blink.gif

Dude, eBay sniping for the win. That's the only way to do it.
Rat
eBay would be okay if the dang packs weren't so expensive mad.gif I'm mean you don't get a whole lot for the price they are asking for. The only thing that makes it worth it is the Dragon biggrin2.gif

Hunchback and Highlander too! You're not missing much in the Clan Pak. Some people like the Cauldy, but I've never thought it was all that special. Horrible turning radius.

Edit: Jeez, looked 'em up on Amazon, IS is worth 60 bucks and Clan is out of stock! That's ridiculous! Wonder what I could get for mine?
Thunderbolt
Spiff...is that an offer? shocked.gif I'm just wondering if I can actually make a working config out of my first love, the Battlemaster. I had no idea so many classic designs were going to be available once I installed the mek tek paks!

Anyways, I got it all loaded, and started playing around on the Banzai Bootcamp ranges to hone some sorely lacking skills (like hitting things that are actually moving) and dealing with that miserable video lag (STILL don;t know what's up with that!) , when I ran across another minor issue; how does one activate the repair and rearm bays?
After playing in the mosh (brawl) pit with an CLBX20 (x2) and :CLBX 10 and 3 sml laser Thanny, I managed to kill the mech I chose to fight and the three others I acidentally activated with stray shots (blasted mad cat, took FOREVER to go down, but the good news is the flea managed to go down in two alphas, which to my way of thinking should have been one, but oh well) I was pretty chewed up. I went to every mech repair bay I could find but had no idea how to activate it. That's not an F-key funciton is it? How can I get patched upo without exiting the camp?

Thanks again.

PS are those classic designs even worth playing around with or are they just there for old farts like me who had 20 sided dice made out of granite? biggrin2.gif
Rat
If you're talking about the stock configs I've never used them unless I had to. Sometimes the randomizer in MWL will pop with stock mechs only smile.gif

WEll, not really stock...I hate stock...always too much of something useless and not enough of something I need, I was mainly referring to the Mechs themselves, but I can pretty much look over the stats for each and see if there is any reason to bring along oh, say a Battlemaster IIC instead of a newer design.
I'm wondering too if there is any Mech capable of carrying that Rail Gun...that thing is just plain scary! One thing is for sure...you wouldn't carry much else! ohmy.gif

I believe there are two MP3 mechs that will carry the railgun. The Behemoth and the Wildcat. Not sure about the Wildcat. I maybe mixed up on that one.

I tried both last night Rat, and I couldn't get it to load up on either one. The Wildcat LOOKS like it should carry it but when you count the slots you come up with 6 in the chassis and 7 on the Rail Gun (and besides, I tried it and it buzzed at me angrilly and sent the rail gun back to the weapons bin). Disappointing, but there has to be at least ONE chassis that'll carry the thing, else why even have it there? (unless they just like to tease). I'll look at all the assault and heavies later tonight after work and the belated Valentines dinner with the wife.

thanks!

My bad. It's the Behemoth II that can carry the railgun. At one time during the beta testing of MP3 the Wildcat could carry it. When we got the boot from the beta test Mektek must have changed the Wildcat to a 4 slot ballistic in the torso. From what I could see the Behemoth II is the only mech that can carry the railgun.
Puck
The Behemoth_II is one, and the Marauder_II is the other that can carry the rail gun. smile.gif

Not everybody can be an assault whore,I guess, Rat. Thanks for the info, and Puck for the added info!

Depends on which type you are trying to use. The free-standing ones with two doors are activated by approaching either entrance at or below a certain speed (~20kph, IIRC). The one-wall open variety is activated by stepping up to the wall and shutting down.

The Banzai server(s) use MP3.1, right?

Just making sure. POW.gif

Heh, not really. I don't play much anymore, but I don't really feel like parting with my stuff. Crap, I think I played that game for 5 years straight, with 6 or 7 different units.

Speaking of which... I just tried out the Dragon... And...

Can anyone say...

Hillbilly Hank + Mad Dog = True??

Back b4 we were booted from the beta the Wildcat could mount the BA pincer. That was cool.
