I am kind of stuck here.

I am trying to beat the mission where Jules His pinned down with a tech caravan. I got close once but only at the expense of my lancemate and died just as I got to the bridge.

I have the following mechs available

Catapult
2x Shadow Cat
Cougar
2x HellSpawn

I have a sprinkling of weapons that could go on some of them but Have not had much success. Most of the walkthroughs I've read differe on the best way to approach the mission. One suggested a CPLT with 3 ER LL and a pair of LRM racks but it had heat issues. I kind of think that 2 Shadow Cats would be preferable because of their speed but I'm just not sure.

Can anyone give me some advice or tactics that might get me past this mission?

This mission is a tough one and no mistake. I beat it on about the 4th try (but if you ever saw me play, you'd know I got lucky smile.gif ) Anyway, If I remember, you can drop 2 mechs. I would go for a Shadowcat for me and give my wingman a Catapult. Load that Catapult up with (if you have them) Clan LRMs and then give it a sensible energy weapons mix (this may only be a couple of ER mediums). Load the Shadowcat up to suit you. I haven't played Vengeance in years (not since it broke my computer) but I seem to recall that a Clan LBX AC 20 with an extra ton of ammo, 2 ER mediums and a Streak 6 SRM pack is an old classic loadout as far as I'm concerned.

As to the mission, do not be afraid to scout ahead and don't be afraid to take on bigger mechs than you (spot the Raven pilot.....). The convoy will follow the road to a bridge so you know where it's going. (I think shift - M will bring up your map) and try and keep some of your weapons intact. You have to blow the bridge at the end and I can tell you through bitter experience that it takes ages with 1 medium laser. Also, don't worry too much about your wingman. All that will happen is you'll lose their mech (I don't think the characters can die). You will get better mechs that a Catapult fairly soon (like the Madcat, 75 tons of yummy goodness and a heavier missile payload than the 'Pult along with the capacity to mount PPC's and medium autocannon or 6 ER Large Lasers (AKA ye Olde Laserwhore, very hot but very effective), just no Jump Jets, no loss to me or the Vulture, 60 tons of Clan beastliness with way better slots than the Catapult - performs essentially the same task but better, can mout 5 CLRM 20 if you can fiddle it comfortably as opposed to the Catapult's 3) so don't worry too much about preserving it.

You might laugh at this.

I beat the mission. The circumstances of it were rather crazy. Everything was going well until taht first uziel .. it beat up my mech a bit more then I expected so rather then beline it for Alpha at that point i headed west of Alpha and stumbled upon a base (where there happened to be a mobile repair bay). It was well guarded though i think there were four mechs and a score or more of srm carriers and bulldogs and choppers. Somehow I got into that bay underfire got repaired took out a hellspawn (maybe two) crippled another and wiped out a unknown number of their forces, but even after that in the fight the bay got smashed and I figured that was it so as my wife had hollered at me to do a chore i set my sights on Alpha and went. When I came back up I was there and the convoy had just started moving. We busted through the turrets and somehow got clear road for a long time.. I used my scat and jen's cat interchangably to keep the enemy off balance and it worked.

I just don't know what to say about that whether it was dumb luck or just inspired work I dunno, but onto the next mission eh?

You learn a little something every day. Wish I'd known about that repair bay. Just out of curiosity, what was that config you used for the Shadowcat ?

Also, did you get any cool new toys from that mission ? If you like missiles, you'll love the Vulture and I think it's about there that you get it.
Veretax
the two mechs I got from that mission were the Uziel and Raven.

I did get some new weapons LBX 20 among them some Clan LRMs more ERLLs etc...

the config i used on the scat was a LIght gaus (2 tons of ammo)
ErLL on the right arm I think I also had an SRM-4 or 6 and a couple other energy weapons (i believe they were medium lasers)

I think the difference though was I didnt de claw the scat's seed and a lot more rounds missed me simply because of how agile the scat was. Guess that just shows you a cat can learn a few new tricks.

I gotta re do the mission that follows though because I lost the Catapult and the and a shadow cat and got jules injured oh welll I was to excited that I won that mission lol tongue.gif
