I am wondering how this can be achieved.

It's the first mission to drop onto Kentares IV and I wanted to see what options I could set for my lancemate, but there is a problem.

My mech seems stuck as a Hellspawn2 when I hit mechlab even if i choose another mech such as Shadowcat0 or osiris1 it still comes up in the mechlab.

Can you guys give me any suggestions on how to alleviate this problem?

Also do you guys have any recommended naming schemes for variants you may create in the mechlab.

No idea about the problem, but I always found it helpful to name the 'Mech by the loadout it carried.

Ryoken (Best. 'Mech. Ever.)
4ERLL BAP Fast

Meaning it had 4 ER Large Lasers, BAP, and was fast (few heatsinks)

Ryoken
4ERLL -BAP Fast

4 ERLL, no BAP, fast.

Ryoken
2ERLL 2ERLPL

2 ERLL, 2 ER Large Pulse Lasers

And so on so forth for each variant of the 'Mech. Although, some of them had special names, namely ones that I stole the loadout from someone else for. Wadmaasi's Victor for example, the Pugilist (which can be found in the 'Mechlab). Or any variant I submitted, I gave some lame name, just so it didn't look boring. tongue.gif

that seems to be pretty close to what I would do. Maybe... I could try naming them by designation i suppose. I read that the variants can get corrupted so what is the easiest way to clear them out?

Unless MP3 changed something (and it's entirely possible, I suppose) it was in the ..\Microsoft Games\Mechwarrior Mercenaries\RESOURCE\VariantsMercs folder. Just select all, and delete.

if your refering to the MekTek mechs I have not gotten those yet... Thus far the only thing i have installed is MW4 and I believe i downloaded whatever the patch was that was on MS's site for it.

Ah, yeah. Those'd be the ones I'm referring to. In that case, that's the folder where the Variants are located. It could be a problem with the variants, but it could also be a matter of which 'Mechlab you're using. Is it the Mechlab button you see in the bottom of the Campaign Breifing window, or is it the one on the splash screen?

If it's the splash screen one, those only create 'Mechs for Instant Action and online play. If it's the other one, then I have no clue. tongue.gif

it's the mechlab from the briefing window of the campaign. The one where you get little vid briefings and map of the mission and such. It's driving me bonkers

Gnosis? He is talking about Kentares IV. Mech4, not Mech4 Mercs smile.gif

heh I'm a loon...

For some reason i thought i had to select the mech for me or my lance mate...then click the image of the mech or their photo. I had expected that mech to show in the mechlab, but it doesnt. Instead there is a drop down box for all of the chasis and i can do it that way. I can't believe i didnt see that earlier
