It seems my notebook battery has suddenly decided it's not going to charge above 3%! Can someone help me with this?

The only think I can suggest is that you find someone else with the same notebook/battery, and borrow theirs to see if it's a problem with the charging circuit, or whether your battery is officially dead.

if your battery is oldish (i.e. over 12 months) and you have been using the lappy plugged in with the battery attatched then you may have basically worn the battery out :\

The old wardriving lappy i've aquired has a perfectly working battery because the guy who had it popped the battery out when he was connected to the mains. If you do that they last pretty much as long as the lappy will!

Hmm... Maybe I should start that then... I had no idea leaving the battery in was a bad idea.
