You're right, It does look exactly nothing like you. Still, not bad. Personally, I'd turn the cigarette smoke into white space rather than a haze -- I think the soft brush clases with the harder lines some -- but not bad at all.

If I may...

Sandy, I really, really dig the last version you have up. The rain, etc really makes the stark white space of the face, etc really *pop* if you know what I mean. It's damn good.

The only thing that really bothers me, perhaps, is the shape of the head. One, the sunglasses aren't quite following the direction of the face. Secondly, there is just something a little too spherical about the head- a human head is normally a lot more like a four sided box than it is an actual sphere, only with rounded edges. I think if you were to straighten that out, you'd be a lot more comfortable with the resemblance. I mean, some folks really do have "balloon" heads, but I've seen your picture, and I can assure you that you fall much more into the normally proportioned demographic (although you do look like you could stand to eat a sandwich or something.... jeez are you thin).

Another thing that may be throwing you off is the mouth. I know you have it pursed to be holding the cigarette, but it's translating just a little to feminine to be you. Work with trying to make those lines a little more angular, in order to add the idea of masculine strength here.

Major, MAJOR kudos on the hand though. While the perspective on the gun is just a tad off, that hand is pure perfection.

You make good points [but I like being this thin!]. On the feminine lips though, that's where my bane is. For me, they are the hardest part of the face to get right. And men lips are even harder [usually I just draw a hard straight line], although that's probably because I make it a point not to stare at men for any real length of time.

There's all sorts of wrong with that gun, but I really surprised myself how accurate the hand came out. Pure luck, I suppose.

First off, spectacular work. I agree with Fury, the last one is the best. The shape of the head does bother me a bit too.

As for the gun, try looking at some real pistols and extrapolate from there. I would reccomend you check out this site: Modern Firearms. Check out the H&K UCP, or for something even wilder try the Calico M950.

Sandy's gun looks cool.

I think he'd be even cooler with a big honking H&K MP7 machine pistol.

I really like the third one you posted a lot. I think the "Sandman" text is too far off to the left, and unbalances the image a little. It wouldn't hurt if it overlapped the left side of the character somewhat. The gun is also... I don't have any problems with the proportion or details, but it looks like it was drawn using a different technique or something. It doesn't 'fit' somehow.
