Everyone has such perty sigs and avatars and such and I have to beg for people to make them for me.

I want to learn how to do it myself. Can some of you Media Wizards(and Wizardesses) hook me up with a good place to start?

I don't have the cash to be buying Photoshop or anything like that, and would appreciate some suggestions on good cheap, if not free creative software.

Gimp is free. Paint Shop Pro has a 30 day trial.
I do not anything about Gimp. PSP is pretty easy to learn by playing around with it.

You know, there was a little kiosk downtown recently where I saw the program. Funny thing is, the little booth was shock full of these little green limes and buried in the pile was Photoshop. Unfortunately, I was in a bit of a hurry to get to the hardware store and pick up some wire, or I might have stopped to pick it up.
