Same as title. What's with PR2 & 3? I haven't played in a few months, but now it seems the mektek packs are out of date or something. Who is using the newer PRs? Or did we simply ignore them when they came out (they seem a little older). Are we still using mektek stuff? Or did I just install 2.1a and realize I'm an idiot (actually, I knew that part before)?

PR2 and PR3? Are you referring the Veng/BK? Mercs never got past PR1. The MekTek paks are generally referred to as MP1, MP2, MP2.1a, etc... You might be seeing the odd MP3 test server if you don't have the browser set to filter things out by version.

Thanks Thrashdog. I was on the mektek site, and I think they tend to mix mw4 and mercs alot. I guess I just got confused. That answers my question then. Nothing's really changed in a few months. Awesome -- at least now I can play. We'll see everyone soon.

Yeah....it's been "SOON" for how many months now? Ah, well...it'll be done when it's done. I'm just not looking forward to having to rebuild all my variants because of the new security.

This was annoying at first. But in retrospect, even without the security feature I think I still would have recreated most of my old variants...just because of all the new content.

Some new security system they're evidently incorporating into MP3, to prevent people running hacked variants. With MP3 installed, the game will only recognize variants created with MP3. Or, so I've heard...

Out of curiosity, do any of you play NBT hardcore? I'm having another issue -- there seems to be a newer version, but I've gotten all of their downloads, and their map-packs, and the auto-updater should catch everything else. My first thought was that it was a beta, but most of their servers are running the new version. Is there something small I've missed?

You ought to double-check that you do have the latest version. HC Booster Pack 1 is due out pretty soon and I'm willing to bet that the auto-updater for the release version of HC 1.0 doesn't catch the betas for the booster pack.

It's official. I'm an idiot. I had the HC beta, not the standard HC. Once I downloaded HC standard, everything (including the booster packs) installed perfectly. Figures. Thanks for all of your help.

Its not like the flea ever changes I think the only two things I used in flea combos from MP2 was HML and LBL. Dang it!


PS: Why is security needed? Don't we have applications like shield and cloak etc to deal with that? Or is this just to stop people fiddling with their code (For example the recent row over stealing of content between the aforementioned MekPak makers and the other development team mentioned in this thread)
