Hey! What is this "TeamSpeak" you speak of?
An Introduction of myself:
42yo, played single player MW1, MW2, MW3, MW4, plus all add-ons, etc
Played expert/elite modes, but am learning that doesn't really mean that much when playing against experienced humans.
Just began playing online a few months ago. Love it.
Will take the advice of the wise ones and hang out on the Banzai server...I play as Spartacus. Noticed there was a Sparticus (note the "i") already regged, sorry! Didn't know. Been using Spartacus for sev months. I am James02 on the forums.
From what I've read, teams dont just use team chat, they also use some kinda online 2-way radio...teamspeak? This explains the very well coordinated attacks that have handed me my butt on the open servers.
Ooh, nuther Q, diff topic...think it will need to be in Beginners Forum. Re: Bootcamp 2. Pls look there!

aye, teamspeak is effectively secure online comms much like an encoded field radio.
As for the clans that teamstack and hand pickup theams their arse, learn to group up with others. Good freelance players aren't uncommon, and there is little more satisfying when playing online to see a clan with 20k points less than the pickup team

Hoi James, and welcome! Glad you're enjoying the game! The learning curve online is very steep so don't get frustrated. There are some people who've been playing Mech online for litterally a decade. There are plenty of people that will help out and give you tips. Read through all the guids on the main site. Some very tasty info.
Teamspeak is really cool, pretty intuitive and good sound quality. Just make sure and get a noise cancelling microphone headset. I think that's what I'm fighting now, the little headset I picked up does not, and it gets echo like you wouldn't believe from feeding back the sound from my speakers.
Many online games are starting to come with their own VoIP commm system, so getting a headset now is a good idea. Battlefield 2 and Counterstrike: Source are the ones I know of for now.
Comms are extremely handy.
Again, welcome, and enjoy the institute!
