Hey guys, just wondering if someone can help me. I haven't been on Teamspeak at all lately(not that anyone every is except scheduled stuff anymore.....).

The issue is that when I press the "talk" key, I get a thumping noise that starts out soft and builds until it's shaking the walls. I've fiddled with the mic volume settings in my audio volume controls and turning it down doesn't help, still get the thumping, but then I can't hear myself at all.

I have the latest sound card drivers and my sound card is a Soundblaster Audigy Platinum. My headset is a Plantronics boom type with an around the back of the head type set up. I forget the model number. It has headphones on it but I want my sound out of my surround sound speakers of course.

On a side note, I can't for the life of me get the Creative test software to recognize that I have 5.1 surround speakers. When I run the little test it only does the left and right speakers.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

May or may not help, but if you go into your soundcard mixer make sure your mic is selected for recording, but muted for playback. Sounds like you've got a nasty feedback loop going there.....

I don't remember how exactly you get there, but your problem is you have 'what u hear' selected as your recording device. It's a thingiejigger that kind of records, but actually broadcasts what your speakers are playing along with your voice. It sucks.

In the Creative control panel, there should be an option to switch your recording from that to just mic. Had this problem when I put an Audigy in my desktop, and it drove me nuts till I figured out what it was.

Well looks like my settings are doing fine, so I think it's a feedback loop via the microphone, though now the VoIP function of BF2 isn't giving ANYTHING out of the microphone doing it's setup test.

Any suggestions on a headset with really good speakers for when I'm gaming with voice comms? I'll just add it to my christmas list of computer components.

Thanks guys

Arch, I bought a Plantronics headset a couple months ago and have been using it for pretty much everything, and I like it quite a bit. Not expensive either.

Cool Spiffy, thanks, I like Plantronics. I was actually looking at their $80 dollar gaming one, but if this one works great then I'll probably go with that.
