now that I have some breathing room, I'm going to upgrade my hog and pass it's guts onto my secondary computer that my girlfriend uses. I need suggestions on a reliable PCI express video card under 300 bucks. I'm not specifically brand loyal, I'm all for going with what works best for what I need. Right now I'm running an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro with 256mb (AGP).
If you like a certain card, please elaborate on the why. Not just "This card kicks ass." hehe.

You just missed an awesome sale that ATI was having 
256MB Radeon X800 Pro AGP for around $180 US - REFURBISHED - 3 year warranty.
I was just at a local store buying RAM and somehow that sale got into the conversation, the guy there mentioned that they bought a bunch of them and were planning to sell them for around $265 Cdn once the sale ran out...even then the price would be tough to beat.
