Howdy all,

I'm in the middle of creating a team portrait for The Black Talons. This is still in the draft stage and I still need to add about 8 more of the guys' 'Mechs plus some text.

However, I'm curious if you all have any constructive feedback... At this point, once I get all the 'Mechs in, fix the edges of two or three of the cards, and put in a lable (Title) I think it might be good to go.

However, a bunch of you folks are way better at this than I am, so I value your feedback.

The draft pic is 800x600 so I'm just sticking in a link.

I like the concept behind the shot a lot, Pryde. The only problem I see is that when you put the member's callsigns in there they're going to be awfully hard to see. I think if you could reduce the amount of green 'dead space' and increase the size of each card by about 20% (which may require you to rearrange them some) you'd have better luck.

Also, I think I'd try to find some kind of green 'furry-looking' texture for the table surface. It looks kind of plain right at the moment.

*ponders*

Oh, and one more... the cards are too precisely laid out, you know? That makes it look mechanical. Try to introduce a little bit of randomness in the angle of each card. That will make it look more like a real card table instead of a computer-drawn image.

Thanks 'Card! As far as names, my thought was to go instead with our team avatars. We all have shields or family crests that we use as decals in game. Some time when I'm on ronin come over and take a look at mine...

I do like the idea of increasing the size and randomness...

The problem that I have with the "felt" look for the table is that I'm just not sure how to do it... unsure.gif I think I know how to put the texture on... I just haven't seen one that looks right.

I'll put up the next revision in a day or two, if you all are interested... I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started this...

LOL. I know what you mean as well wink.gif

Don't really have anything to add, Card pretty much summed it up. But I'll take a poke around my library of textures, its pretty extensive, I might be able to find something that looks like felt.

EDIT: I ran a google search in the images part got a picture of a pool table, then cut out a piece of felt and used the "seamless texture" filter on it....

Hope that helps wink.gif
