For those who don't know, I'm enjoy writing things. My latest project is semi-futuristic fantasy stuff, and we all know that heroes from this time period need a cool ride (reference: Spike's Swordfish). SO I decided to cook one up for my hero. The odd thing is that I plan on it crashing and burning pretty early into the story. So, here're a few WIP renders for the concept (yes, I model everything, for no good reason):

Whaddaya think?

Pretty awesome. The wings kinda look like a tuning fork impaled Pac-Man.

Where can I get one and is it cheap?

looks cool as heck, then i start think of the practicalities of some of the design elements. but it looks cool as heck

Now, that looks
really nice. Gonna color it?

Love the design, but I'm not sure it will fly!
The wing split is the major prob...SERIOUS drag issue, I would think.
Turbo-fans for VTOL and manuevering? Suggests that your future doesn't have "repulsors" or some form of gravity manipulation, which is what lets lots of sci-fi design slide by. Of course, ships in SPACE don't give a damn about aerodymics, but the smooth, swoopy nature of your design suggests that you want to fly it in an atmosphere.
Does it fold? Has that strike-fighter look, and thinking of Swordfish made me wonder.
But enough of my ridicuous psuedo-aeronautical nitpicks....your model rocks, Thrashy. Show us the story when you have it!

You pretty much hit it on the head, Lemur. Though I'm curious as to how the split wing would cause additional drag -- I'm no fluid dynamics professor but I'd think that unless there were control surfaces on the first wing disrupting airflow over the second wing there'd not be a whole lot of drag induced.
And yes, the the wings do fold at the pivots. I might put up a sub-page at my blog detailing the story's setting that would explain why, at some point, but it's a bit complicated for now.

t3h bumps! (that is to say, that I've bump-mapped parts of it.)

Somewhat similar to the 'ornithopter' craft in the mini-series version of
Dune...now, if you ever changed it, link the outer ends of the wings and put some sort of movable vane in the wings' long axis--along the lines of the Lockheed P-38's spoilers...when you need to dump a lot of lift in a hurry, you see.
What software did you use to make this?

Blender 2.36 for teh model and rendering, and Adobe Photoshop 5.5 for textures.
