How do some poptarters quickly jump jet from a crouch (behind cover of course), fire, then return to a crouch in what seems to be an unaturally quick time? This makes it extremely difficult to return fire. Is there any real trick here? I have tried to duplicate it but it always takes me a second or two to get back to a crouched position. I swear I have even once or twice seen some pilots jump while in a crouched position.

Can't you jump from the crouched position? I thought you could but not being a poptarter myself I'm not sure.

Of course you can. You just crouch down and hit your jets. *shrug*

So if you can jump from a crouch shouldn't you land back into the crouch position?

Sorry for the confusion. First, when you jump from a crouch you do not automatically go back into a crouch. You have to hit the "crouch" button after you land. Second, when I said

I meant they are in a crouched position after they jump (while in the air). I have seen this once or twice.

That's probably just a graphics bug.

Yeah, I would agree this is most likely just a bug. I guess my question really is: Is there a faster way to return to a crouching position after a jump than just hitting the "crouch" key whn you land?

no.
the simplest way of getting a quick jump from crouch then dropping into cover is to crouch, go into slight reverse throttle, jump.. you jump up, and fall backwards.

You can also crouch, go to max forward throttle, then jump....and go flying forwards at high speed

yes, but that isnt exactly going to help you poptarting when you fly out of your cover at 80 kph into the guns of the other team is it?

It's possible that some jumpers have a macro programmed to time the "re-crouch" more efficiently.

Its probably a version of the crouch run cheat. A person crouches then hits max speed which causes an image of their mech to precede their mech for a second. Anybody who does this is a cheat plain and simple

i got crouch mapped on my Joystick. so as soon as i land i hit crouch...
its just a matter of timing it right.
