"Weapon destroyed...Weapon destroyed...Weapon destroyed..."

You get the idea! That's what I get for my first game with M/K control... had no idea that chasing a Flea in a stock Mad Cat MKII would be so difficult!
I have a nice joystick that I need to get setup...for what it's worth, how does ANYONE use a mouse and keyboard and keep track of the controls? (Don't worry, I'm not giving up; someone here did warn me that I was in for a steep learning curve.)

I can hardly wait till I face humans online.... SG_Spank.gif biggrin2.gif

Customization and days of practice. I just memorized all the keys and my hand knows the rest.

I put every control I need in a combat situation in the number key pad, so everything's really close together.

What Sandman said & go to Solaris when playing through the campain it's good training.
And most defenatly go to the front page of this site & click the Mechwarrior training center button (top left corner)
start reading the guides. They are a great learning tool. Those guides help me improve at this game a lot.
And thank you to all the peaple that wrote them smile.gif

If you have a nice joystick, why are you farting around with a keyboard and mouse?

Allow me to explain:

Stick is USB (Logitech extreme 3D, I think).
USB ports are on back of computer.
Computer is in corner, not easy to get to said ports without having to unplug a lot of stuff.
Also, wanted to learn M/K for a bit.

Having said that, I have a way around the USB port issue, which I shall be arranging tomorrow. I can understand why folks love the mouse and keyboard, but in another session today I kept hitting the shutdown key instead of turning left because my left hand kept drifting off to the right.

Just so you know, my keyboard is an older IBM AT 'clicky' keyboard...still in great shape, believe it or not! biggrin2.gif

PS: Saw one of those slick Saitek HOTAS controllers a few days ago...sadly, all I could do was drool.
Sandman
I really want a Saitek keyboard. Problem is, aside from looking oh-so-cool and the extra controller, I'm not sure it's much better than my current standard one.

The worst one is on coms when the evil evil people trick me into ending sentences with an s.
And sometimes your mech shuts down after you hit enter smile.gif

Right o biggrin2.gif Though I imagine if I had a joystick torso twisting would be alot smoother becuase I would not have to pick up the mouse nutkick.gif
