Thanks,
Vic. I enjoyed doing this one a lot, simply because the story was so cool, and before this I was unfamiliar with it.
See, apparently Ares had promised Athena that he would stay neutral in this battle in the Trojan War. Athena was rooting for one side, and had helped them along here and there, but hadn't gotten involved in the fighting. Ares shows up, is overcome by bloodlust, draws his sword and jumps into the fight, butchering mortals left and right.
So Athena gets pissed. She's
really fond of this guy Diomedes, so she throws his spear carrier out of the back of his chariot, jumps in there herself, and utters the quote above. Diomedes charges Ares with his chariot, knocks him down, and then jumps out and stabs Ares with his spear. (which I think Athena had blessed so that it could harm a God) Ares flees the battlefield licking his wound, and the good guys win.
Cool story.
