Howdy.

When playing online my computer tends to lock up at random. Sometimes it can go for hours, at others it locks up every 5 minutes. Does any one else have this problem? Please help.

Here are my system stats.

AMD 950 mhz
256 MB RAM
Radeon 7000 vid card
20 GB Hard Drive

I am running Direct X 9. something. I think its the newest one, its the Direct X that came with Call of Duty.

Also, anyone else out there who has a Radeon 7000. What drivers are you running?

Thanks

Are you getting an error message?

No error message. Just all of am sudden locks up and freezes. Have to turn of computer to get it to restart.

Are you running any programs other than MW4 when you play online? With 256 megs of RAM, you could be bogging down the system with too much stuff going on at once. I've locked up a few times when switching around among too many things.

The RAM is probably what's doing it. What % is free when everything is set and you don't have mercs up yet?
It seems like I had this problem back when I fired up mercs online, went to 384 and haven't had any problems until lately and I think I have too much running again for the RAM amount.

I don't run anything else most of the time. I occasionally run Ventrillo. But that does not seem to have anything to do with the times it locks up faster.

I have no idea how to find out how much RAM is in use......

I hope RAM is all it is. My ghetto comp only has two slots for RAM, and I have been wanting to get more. But that will mean going out and buying a 512 MB stick. Can't afford that yet, but hopefully in a few weeks.

Thanks for your help though.

Could someone tell me how to see how much of my RAM is in use? That would be very helpful.

Ventrilo alone shouldn't cause that. Ctrl-Alt-Del will bring up your Task Manager, which will tell you what programs are currently active and how much memory they are using. Be careful about what you shut down, but you may be able to free up some RAM.
