Ok, I had some seroius problems in the last few days. After playing MW4 for some time (~15 minutes) my MW4 starts acting up. At first I get lagspikes of one or even two minutes. Next: īMechs turn temporarily invisible - only the red brackets still indicate where my prey is (well - not anymore at that stage). After that: the whole stuff except the ground becomes invisible. Very strange on concourse. Last stage: my MW4 stops entirely, produces some weird error-message (no idea anymore - was too startled to write that down) and returns to Windoze.

Worst case: suddenly MY COMPUTER SHUTS DOWN & REBOOTS. This happened twice so far and is seriously freaking me out, because this ONLY happenes while playing MW4.

Surfing for hours: no problem -> no harddrive issues
Ping: normal -> no connection-issues
No traffic except the usual -> no worms/spyware/whatever messing with my connection
Other games: run smoothely as always -> no graphic-card/processor overheating

OS: Win2k
Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce2 MX
... both of which I keep updated on regular basis. wink.gif

I have not tried to reinstall MW4 yet - as I havenīt tinkered with any MW4-files lately (except taking screenshots / deleting all decals) -> no additional installations

Please let me know, if you have ANY idea, īcuz I donīt...

DirectX version and diagnosis result? (run dxdiag from the run command in the start window).
Scandisk to make sure there are not bad sectors where the information should be read.
And...

reinstall the thing. sad.gif

I wonder if it is a bad memory chip, but you tell us the other games run fine.

I had a very similar prob several months ago. Drove me crazy, wanted to take a bat to the infernal machine.

What finally fixed it was I pulled the cards & connectors & cleaned all the contacts. Don't forget the RAM cards. Clean the card contacts with a white synthetic eraser & wipe clean using rubbing alchohol & a cotton rag. The slots were cleaned with a piece of brown paper from a grocery sack (rough without being abrasive) soaked with contact cleaner. Fold the paper a couple of times & slide down into & straight back up several times, don't slide it back & forth as you could bend a contact. EIDE & floppy connectors I sprayed lightly with contact cleaner, then plugged & unplugged them several times to clean the pins & then blew them dry with canned air.

Haven't had the problem since & several other minor annoyances also went away. My guess is there was a weak contact in the AGP slot that was heating up during graphics intensive use, over time this caused oxidation added to environmental pollution which made the contact erratic & unreliable.

Hope this helps.

I had this problem when I used the latest vid drivers, I even posted a pic of the invisible mechs. Go back to your old video drivers see if it changes. Geforce 420 MX here Win2kPro also.

Ok, I did that (after running dxdiag with no result) and made a test on Eliīs. I had no problems whatsoever. Lets hope it stays that way. I love tinkering with computers but not right now... laugh.gif
..and a big thanks to you three!
