Even better news.....

(and I'm so excited I could just squeal)

Not only commissioned to do a website header for an RPG website.... but it looks good that I'll be asked to be a regular contributing artist!

*does intense happy dance*

WARNING : Be careful when you are commissioned i have ran into sites that are extremely picky in what they want and can take forever to get the colors shading ect ect right,

My last commission job was for pixel lab (which is down for the time being,) but for there header it had to be pixel art, and certain colors and such, well i did that they didnt really like the end product which i had been showing them progress shots the whole times, i ended up doing itover again like 4 times. Which i have to say took 12+ hours becasue pixel art takes forever (ie pixel by pixel) So yea just becareful and know what ur getting into

I hate to say this, but when dealing with customers, sometimes you just have to suck it up and do what they want. I've had to render countless things over again and again with my job, so I know it can be a real pain. However, doing so with grace is one thing they remember better than anything else, trust me. While they drive me up the wall, I can appreciate a picky customer because I'm a picky artist.

When something is gonna be the first thing someone sees about your site? Damn straight they want a superior product.

regular banners and such are fine becasue its flexably work, i really havnt had problem with them its jsut when they start getting very very specific is when I start having problems. becasue then you have to go outside of your own style, whcih as much of a learning experience it is, can be very frustrating

I'm not certain how to respond here. On the one hand I'm really tickled because the person who asked me about 9 months ago to "teach her everything I know about graphics programs" has now gone way beyond what little bit of tinkering I do, and it's always a cool thing to see someone you helped a little here and there really take off and go past you.

On the other hand, I think you may be opening a can of worms getting into doing sigs for other games. One of the reasons I've insisted on only doing MW4-related sigs is so that 1.) I only get asked for one at a time from each person I do them for (because it's not uncommon for people to request one for each of the three or four games they play) -and- 2.) I've always kind of worried about having a flood of people from all sorts of different games showing up here asking for sigs.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy doing them. If I didn't, I wouldn't do them at all, you know? It's a cool hobby, and one I always find relaxing. But there's only so much of anything you can do before it starts to feel more like work than a hobby. Doing one or two every now and then keeps it to an enjoyable level for me, and I don't invest so much time that way that I feel like I have to start charging for them. (charging money for graphics would mean I'd be required to listen to the opinions of the people who were paying, and that would take all the fun out of it for me - so I never accept money for graphics stuff)

Fury however, has a few things going for her that I don't have. Most importantly, she's an actual artist with actual talent. I'm just a guy that knows how to use some software and likes hacking images together into cool stuff. She's also a lot more 'driven' than I am graphically. The point being that I'm really tickled and kind of proud (in an odd way) and I'll be back here in my own backyard cheering her on. cool.gif
