Test ... trying my hand at sigs

Very nice, Beck! One suggestion I would make is that the skin on that Thor is a little too close to the forum's grey. What I recommend doing is going into that layer and bumping up the brightness, then adding contrast to compensate so you don't lose any detail or cause it to look washed out.
You could possibly add a light colored stroke or glow, but to be honest, those never really come out too clean once you save it as a .gif, so I'd try to preserve the hard edge if I were you.

Thanks Fury

Did the contrast/brightness on the Thor and changed the font

There ya go! That looks better, and the value of the Thor now is pretty close to the sheild, so both sides of the sig balance out a little better too.
As a matter of personal opinion, I kinda liked the original font, but that's all your call

I like the first font better myself ... some folks have had a hard time with it in the past. Its called Roar and you can use only caps.

Oh Yea! Sweet! Nice Job Bec!

Thanks Thy

I can see a few places it needs tweaked. I think I need to brighten up the TB logo a bit.
Mainly wanted to see how the rest of you graphics guru's thought of my first try at a sig.

Instead of brightening it you may want to try a very small corona.
That Font is cool.

Not real sure I now what you mean there. Are you talking about a lens flare effect?
If you would like I could send you that font

Yes Please on the Font.

Ah... thought you meant slapping an outer glow on it. There is only one problem with that.... is that it ends up basically looking like crap when you save it as a .gif unless it's on a background of some kind. If you've got a transparent background and you do a glow like that.... the matting pretty much looks terrible in my opinion. Which is why I try to keep any glows I put around the outside edges of anything very small (max of 2 or 3 pixels) and almost entirely opaque. I love the glow effect, but it just doesn't save well at all as a transparent .gif
If you wanted to put some kind of square banner or so behind the TB seal, then you could possibly get away with adding a glow and having it look right.

Nice Catch! Don't kow why I did not realise it had a trans background on it. Never mind Bec. I just slipped a cog or two.

No sweat

Probably the little dash marks around an attached image made it look like it had an opaque background. Of course, sometimes you can do it and get away with it.... The Vargas girl in my sig has a glow around her.... as I said, it's really very small and set somewhere in the range of 90 to 95% opaque. If you do it like that, the matting isn't as much, and it can be carried off a little better.
Might be worth giving a shot, anyway

I made that logo in your sig Bec (nice work btw), if you (or any other
TB member) want the origional working copies I used to make them from, you are welcome to it

Its basicly the logo in B&W broken up into a few different layers that I just toy with adding effects/colors/plugins/filters/etc. to each layer and see what I can come up with as an end result. Though the one you used is by far one of my favorites

What software are you using Bec?

Thanks
I kown it's a bit large but only 69k in size.
That logo is one of my favs as well. The small dragon was a b/w I found on the web. My wife colored it in with painter8 using a wacom graphire3 pad. I used Photoshop7 to make the sig.
