Allright boys and girls grab your socks for they might be blown off,cuz do I have a tale for you.

Lets talk for a moment about HUBRIS and NEMESIS defined.

*Hubris means lack of restraint.

*Nemesis means rightous anger, due inactment or divine vengence. One from whom there is no escape.

Those of us who love to brawl,or are involved in the brawler ladder at MWL all know the same tired setup. We try to go heavy, they always go light.Even in an open server it is no surprise to see 1 team bulk up and the opposite lighten out. Why?Because of the modifier, that curious little catch that makes a lights death in a brawler match worthless for anyone that that takes it.Whats worse is trying to match a light for a light that is unless you have an elitest aim (which I obviously dont). Now dont get me wrong I love lights my mech of choice for nearly all fights is the Uller. But if Im fighting lights I bring an Assault.Wait what about the modifier you ask?

Yes what about the modifier...

Let me introduce you now to NEMESIS

BloodAsp

2 cLBX20
4 cMDPLS
4 cLMG

13 Heat sinks

54.02 KPH

15.5 tons of FF armor

Group the pulse lasers with the Light Machine guns
Keep the LBXs together on a seperate button.

Kill range begins at 400meters,the LMG's provide minor knock as the light begins its approach. When it enters effective streak range you fire the LBX's, while laying down Pulse/MG fire (Whose recycle times are so close its scarey),watching the light explode.
Sounds fun right?
It gets better...The light confident in its ability to do damage,as well as the pilots skill to dodge fire returns for a rematch...Cuz we all know how cocky those light pilots are,and you wash, rinse and repeat.Even if the light does manage to take you after 2 runs (Basically you are a poor shot or hes damn good) his modified kill bonus is in fact equal to the points you have recieved in killing him. Why? Because this mech is a point whore. Its an assault that scores like a larger medium halving the usual 4:1 kill ration on an assalut versus a light.Whats great is that this mech can also fight and win a 1:1 against a heavy, and a 1.5:1 against a medium (a kill and some legs).Assaults? Heres the best part YOU get a modifier against them because the ASP only weighs 90 tons. Not much Ill admit but go "drill" into a daishi and tell me how you fair.

What about heat?
Minimal heat management is required to drive this variant.Basically if it goes into the read let off the trigger, tap the flush wait 1 second then get back to work.Adjust accordingly for hot maps of course.

And ammo?

Ha! 1800 rounds in the MGS will never leave you empty and as for the LBX? They'll get shot off before they shoot out.

So in closing with this Mech you can

a) spend an entire game torturing lights with your 90 ton,360 twisting, shiny, point filled, butt.

b) surprise the hell out of a rac boat because you dont jam.

c) tear an Atlas limb from limb

d) bring something new and interesting to brawler besides the basics.

Actually youll get the same points for a flea kill in an atlas as you would for a hauptmann
Quarzark
I've faced something like this before

my hunchy tore it apart laugh.gif

the problem with it is its range, I stayed outside around 600 and wapped it with Guass and Large Lasers. and as a light mech pilot, I have to say we are so cocky because most of us ARE confident enough in our ability to take down assaults (DFA POW.gif )

now if you want a real point whore, grab a dragon and load it out with Flamers, SRMs, and MGs

justa sec, a GOOD Blood Asp var.?? PSHH!!! rofl.gif

yeah, sry, thats my "I HATE assault mech" attitude, unless you are freaking amazing and can dodge weapons fire and have LESS that 10 tons of armor on an assault, then i may give you some credit, otherwise i hate assaults and most of thier pilots...

AR15firing.gif

blood asp Stalker Glad and the Daisy
Hauptman and Highlander they're all just lazy
they can come and charge me in thier fat piggies
ill be waiting for them and get me some whiskey

i drink and i kill and i drink and they die
i tear of thier arms and i shoot out thier eyes
they may call me crazy they may call me daft
but they will soon know when i am the last!

HEAVIES FOREVER!!

*song is mine, please feel free to sing it on BC if your killing pigs in your Light/med/heavy, true warriors forever!*

Sorry, but 2 CLBX 20, 2 CLBX 10 and 2 HLL on a Blood Asp is much more deadly. cool.gif

Okay

First I am not an assault pilot tyvm,I drive an Uller tyvm

Second I never said that this was a DEVASTATING CONFIG,Its fun.

Third How bout you try it huh?Doesn't have to be on an open server,it can be on a closed locked away in secret so no one can see your shame that you arent hitting the enemy mech with an 85 point alpha.

Fourth This is a mech designed with the MWL BRAWLER LADDER rules in mind,my main form of combat-Hence Mr Killer hunchie with his Guass and LL need not reply...again

Fifth This mech was designed STRICTLY to terrorize lights/mediums but it isnt completely helpless against bigger mechs either

Sixth Some off you guys/gals have lost touch this isnt called LBX or ERPPC\GUASS\LL Warrior. Its called Mechwarrior and we bought or pirated the dern thing to have fun.Of course our definition of fun varies widely the majority need the instant grat of mech parts flying everywhere while others, myself included, like to maliciously torture our opponents.

Finally Please no responses about how stupid my Uller is.Like Nemesis I know it doesnt pump out an 85 point alpha at a thousand meters.Yes I know your ultra original Glad\Daisy\Highlander could kill it in one shot. But guess what...Its fun tongue.gif

First things first. Calm down. We are not here to critisize and demean. Second, the Uller is a nifty little ride, and was even before it was given that massive 3O left arm. This has become less of a game about having fun than one of victory at all costs, so it stands to reason that somebody should create a ride specifically for sh!ts and giggles. Victory is boring. DFAing a Cougar at full throttle with an unarmed Victor is not boring. See my point?

I think you have hit something here James. It seems that if you take a mech that is not specifically designed with the maximum alpha people think it messes up the game for some reason. I can understand that if it is done during a league drop but in open servers I would have expected it to be the norm for people to try wildly different configs and have fun doing it. But I have seen people get upset. The funny part is, they only get up set when the odd ball config is showing success against the more standard configs. Stands to reason, if they are able to blow a mech away with no problems they think it is fun, but if they are struggling against something a little different then they complain about the different config.

No wonder things degenerate into assault laden poptarting sessions. People become reluctant to take anything wildly different from the norm due to reaction from the other players.

I say people should drive what the want when the want on open servers. As long as it is fun for them.

heh, so true...

and Pit Viper, you won't hear any complaining about lights (well at least OPENLY) here because that's the only thing some members here use. i've used configs that are based on knock and recycle alone and had fun watching the other piggies 100 point alpha go down the drain because i can make them flinch every 2 seconds pretty badly, and they don't have the skill to retarget me before i let another salvo fly.

and i think that they were more putting the drawbacks of a very short range variant into sharp relief than trying to truly be cruel...at least i should hope so.

i myself haven't played in a while due to the fact that the game has become more 'militaristic' in the fact that you HAVE to win, HAVE to use the most powerful alpha piggies, and NOT use anything that goes over 60. don't get me wrong, i like the game, it's just become too competitive for my tastes (which says something right there).

KG, we should get on a server together then. Have not played much lately. But the few times I have I have found the NBT servers to be more fun than the open servers. Last time I was driving a raven and found a loki by himself. Came close to getting the kill but another one of my team members came over to help and got the kill. Another game in same raven I circled around and got several shots on a bushie before they knew I was there (team only radar is lots of fun). Rest of team got chewed up and there I was dancing with 5 of them in my raven.

Having two or three lights working together could be lots of fun on an NBT server, particularly if it is team only radar.

meh, i myself take some seriously "Strange" and abnormal configs, and i meet up against great adversity. im not that good of a fighter, i don't have the best ability at making mech or tactics, i am probably one of the worst the mw community has ever seen thats not a total n00b

the reason i keep myself at a lower level is i seem to get a better challenge out of it, watching the better warriors beat the hell out of me as i try failingly to succeed, mainly because i like having something that im not good at, and every once in a while getting a few nasty shots in on my own.

when i was dissin your mech, it was merely cause its an assault, the configuration itself is good but i dislike the mech, its like buying and old buick with a 350hp engine, its a nice engine but the car sucks.

you should play with heavy/meds, they are the funnest for making "oddball" configs >=)
Didymus
if you find another light pilot to run with, the heavies and assaults drop pretty fast. also, the chaos in the enemy ranks and the insults you get are so gratifying. it's especially good in matches with only popturds. bppirate.gif i never drive exclusively light mechs, though; just not enough variation to keep me interested.
