Hey Clown, I use a microsoft sidewinder precision 2. It works great for me biggrin2.gif

You accidentaly bought a joystick? eek13.gif

The best stick out there is probably the Saitek x45. But that thing takes some time to learn/get used to. This stick is how Puck does his arial acrobatics.

As for sidewinders, didn't MS say that they were gonna stop making controllers?
I'd rater grab a Logitech.

You really have to decide for yourself, if you want such things as force feedback, wireless/wired, etc.

You've never played mechwarrior till you've played it using a steering/pedals combo laugh.gif

I'd say test out a bunch of joysticks to find one that feels right and is comfortable.

That is what the pods at Dave & Busters used. The foot pedals controlled the left and right turn. The joystick for the right hand controlled the torso twist (left and right on the stick) and the up and down aiming. The left hand was the throttle, back to stop and forward to move with a thumb button on it that when pressed would make you go in reverse. Then there were all the multifunction displays that controlled each weapon and its coolant loop as well as up to four turbines that you could shutdown or reconnect to different systems if one was knocked out. (had to keep power to the myomers or you would become a turret).

Currently using a freedom joystick. seems to work very well. But I do keep a supply of batteries handy. laugh.gif

I would have suggested Logitech except that those sticks are not durable enough for prolonged Mech combat. Try one of the CH, Thrustmaster or Saitek sticks instead.

I use a Saitek Cyborg myself. Pretty good stick. cool.gif

Do what I do: use a mouse. Never figured out, how to fine-tune your aim with a joystick. Since I tried to play X-Wing with a joystick (-> failed miserably) I use a mouse for all games.

Some of the best out there use a keyboard and mouse combo. I use the mouse for aiming and shooting group 1, and controlling the reverse and JJ. A joystick (MS FF2) on my left hand has plenty of buttons to shoot japanese cars....

(and to use a nifty macro to jump-zoom-snipe-crouch-turn zoom off.)

I use a Logitech Freedom, and love the precision and the button layout. I've had it for about 9 months and have had no reliability issues at all.

If you don't like the wireless aspect, they now make a wired version. It looks like the same stick (so I would expect the same kind of precision and durability) but I think it's cheaper. As you can see, many people dig the Saitek stuff, and their prices are very competitive. On the high-side, CH makes the primo-stuff, but it's VERY pricey.

There used to be a joystic review thread around here...hmmmm.

Aha. Here they are:

How do You Interface with MW?

This is the second time I've revived the Joystick threads because of a new question. Should we pin something onthis topic?
