Hey Banzai, I have downloaded the BootCamp and can't get it to come active when I'm in there.

I shoot the brawler mech like the instructions say and return to the middle of the area but he won't come play with me.
I run down in the volcano pit and wait anxiously but the Poptarters don't pop.
And in the Snipe area, nobody wants to run across the opening at 800meters.
Help me, what am I doing wrong or didn't download to get this place to working. It looks really great and all but right now it's kinda boring without the bots playing along.

Been awhile since the last time I used that. But I believe you need to host it as if you are the server. Select custom game and then once it has been started you can join.
What steps are you currently using to get it started?
And what ever you do don't shoot the white mech in the brawler range!

Not sure about anyone else but when driving a light mech I am ALWAYS afraid!
Actually I don't think I had seen the light yet back when I was using the bootcamp. May have to go back in there with the raven and see how I do.
But I still don't think it is a good thing to go shooting the white mech first, have to destroy each of the others first. But with the mighty rotary flare cannon I guess raven would have an even chance.

Somehow the download ended up in my Instant Action (Mission Play) section of the game. I'll move it to the Resources folder and try it in HOST mode from there. Thanks for the help; you guys are the bestest.
Oh and a question for the mighty Flare Master (Shiv), in a practice match the other night I was attacked by a Flare packing mechwarrior, besides that infernal sizzling noise and the white light blocking my HUD the darned thing disabled my weapons while it was attached. Is the disabling of the weapons a normal occurence?

First I am not a flare master. Simply a mechwarrior that likes to see that "darn, I did actually hit that mech with something". For a long time I thought I missed every shot since it never seemed to slow anyone down.
And isn't the sizzle nice! I like it!
Never heard of flares disabling weapons. Would be neat if they did or at least added some heat to the mech they were attached to.
I do understand that in forced first person games a flare stuck to the cockpit will pertty much blind the pilot. Unfotunately on most open servers the pilot can switch to 3rd person if they are not already using it. Have had many pilots tell me on open servers that flares don't do any good because of that. This of course came after I have applied a couple of layers of flares to their mechs.
And for awhile there were a lot of night games on the servers and they will light up an enemy nicely. Not sure if that helped the team or not but it was nice to look at.

Just a foot note to the Hosting vs SP issue.
Boot Camp was designed to be an online aid for clans or players. The MP and SP script code for mercs is just different enough to prevent it working in both so the choice to go for an online mission was made rather than rewrite it for sp too. A choice im glad I made because mercs has some very restrictive things built into SP these days.
There have been complaints that it refuses to work by some players even online. I have not been given enough information about the problem to truely identify the cause. Given that i lost the source for the mission it could prove difficult fixing it unless i manually Cough Cough all the files and rebuild the mission that way.
Anyway if you have any other problems PM me if you need me. You will find Banzai Technical support polite and helpful even if your a complete banana head on these matter

Heheh i sent a message about it a while back, though it wasnt about problems. It was about making a bigger, more advanced version. I have no probs whatsoever with it. As to shooting the white one, heh, bad idea if alone.

When Banzai tested Boot Camp for the first time we had late comers to the test. Jimmy and rest took great please in saying the white mech needed to be shot first. Usually they where safely on top of a near by hill where they could see the choas that followed:)

Thanks again for the help Banzai

(and others if included) I moved the file to my resources folder and it works fine. A nice place for training, many thanks to the people that put in all the hard work to give us NOOBs a place to hone our skills.

Most of the map reflects the ideas and feedback of the Banzai team or as close as we could get given the limits of the game.
There are 2 older training missions, one was the original idea for Bootcamp set on lunacy that works in mw4 bk. In case there are any bk players out there

Check TB's downloads area or go to
http://www.respawn.co.uk and visit the downloads are there.

I saw a mention of this somewhere, but I didn't find any answers using the search (which was _really_ slow, btw - could my my proxy server tho).
I downloaded the bootcamp map a couple of nights ago and, whilst I haven't exactly spent ages trying to make it work properly, I found that the round would end after approx 1 minute every time - no matter what round time I'd set.
Is this a known problem, a problem with my MW install, or just me being dozy?
Cheers

Make sure you are hosting it as an online game and not running it from Instant Action, it won't work there. Click "Multiplayer", then "Host", then select it as the map to play and everything should be active and stay on for the full time.

I had the same trouble with bootcamp. Both Nova and Bec witnessed it. Scratching our heads, what finally worked was making sure that the following items were checked (selected/active) when going to host the game:
Advertise this game
Allow Join in Process (Unlimited)
Allow Custom Decals
Limited Aummunition
Heat Management
Friendly Fire
Splash Damage
Force Respawn
I don't know which of the above finally triggered it to work correctly, but after checking off all of those, my bootcamp now works correctly again.
You can password it so that no one bothers you when you are playing, this doesn't affect the duration of the game.
Hope this helps!

Spot on. The map either requires that the server's advertised, or that "join in progress" is enabled - perhaps it should be added to the download instructions?
Thanks Ivy!
