Full Version: How to avoid "to splash your teammates"

Hello everbody and good evening,

if an enemy is critical/flashing red, and "hugging" your teammate, what's the best way to get rid of
him w/o splashing your teammate to death - besides waiting that your teammate gets away - is
there another way? And if you're "the hugged" how do you get away?

I ask for the teamplay guide and because i've seen several times that the hugged mech
seemed not to be able to get/turn away from the "huggie" - can heavier mechs "shove"
lighter mechs around, so could you just try to shove the hugger away if your teammate
gets stuck - or something like that? Can two mechs get "glued" together or what is the
catch here huh.gif

Usually I'll just blow them up, unless I'm on comms with someone, then I make a point to blow them up in their face tongue.gif *hides*

Erm, anyway, I would say the best way to do it, is to crit the guy out, leg him, de arm him, torso him, then let the guy make it out of range, followed by a quick kill, just in case he tries to suicide.
catzcradle
leggin them is the best possible option. Unfortunatly, if you alpha a smaller mech to remove a leg, it's common to blow em both out.

stay 35m or more from the exploding mech.

If there's another enemy mech in LOS, shoot the other enemy mech. Just let teammate getting hugged decide what to do.

If there's not other enemy mech in LOS, wait for teammate to clear or get a good distance before shooting.

If there's alot of OpFor critical mechs in the area, just shoot 'em ... a chance for MULTI KILL! Just treat teammate as a casualty of war laugh.gif

Leg 'em....

if you can't, then let your teammate kill them, if they are gonna get the splash let them get the kill.
Brewder
Leg them.

Your teammate might not only suffer splash but if they are running a hot mech and are sitting in the higher red zones, they may just die from a suicide if you take the kill. Thereby causing more of a loss to your team than the kill is worth.

Kill a mech that is hugging me and I'm likely to alpha shoot you a few times, usually in the legs. I don't care if its a TK by then as you obviously are only there for yourself, not the team anyway.

DFA them. Then everyone run away while he's getting back up. laugh.gif

Most people on open servers don't worry much about splashing me or anyone else I see getting hugged. I usually just accept it and return the favor.

If it happens to me multiple times by the same person, I'll usually find a way to "accidentally" shoot them in the back with an Alpha (of course, I've gotta be sneaky tongue.gif)

I must be a pure bastard as i nearly always blow the offending mech up on my teammates.

My reasoning ... usually the enemy mech has weapons left an is just trying to cause extra damage on a weakened opponent anyway ... killing him prevents the enemy from getting any more points. sometimes taking the leg off of waiting (while still getting shot by others) is not the best option ... but you gotta weigh up the options ... but often the teammate who is getting rammed will just blow up the mech on himself anyway.

I don't care what people think of me when they cop some splash .. it happens to me all the time ... part of the game .. think about it too long and you end up hurting the team as much from inaction etc.

I'll say sorry sometimes though wink.gif

Meh, it rarely happens, and when it does I usually don't see the teammate again as I'm on the opposite side of the map. tongue.gif And then, I rarely do it anymore anyway.

Although, something I will do, if someone's been splashing me like crazy, and I've been, I dunno, guarding him/her. I'll just let mechs charge through and nail him/her. eek13.gif

Lol, that's evil Gnosis.

About splash ... your signature's mech is splashing in a lava pit. smile.gif
Gnosis
Not...exactly...it's behind the lava tongue.gif The lava is just bubbling up because the volcano is about to explode and eventually destroy the mech (unless I'm in it, then I survive because I use a lag shield to save me) biggrin2.gif
Tamaraw
Hehehe, lag shield works because of mech coordinate discrepancies on server and its clients (caused by so many factors). And with a mech standing that close to the volcano ... splash damage will get it laugh.gif
