Mercs keeps on forgetting my control changes. It reverts to the default [crap] controls. Sometimes it leaves my controls blank in the directory, or leaves them as I changed them but does not use the changes.
Very annoying.

Is there any chance you've created a new pilot in the game?
I believe creating a new pilot / character can have different control setups... and always starts at the default MW controls.
I'm sure there's a "key setup" file somewhere (options.mw4), where one could transfer it from character to character to avoid the hassle of doing the tedious keyboard/joystick mappings.
Be warned though, transferring the above file from different character / pilot folders will affect your single player games. Only do this if you only play multiplayer games and use alot of different aliases.

I HAVE a joystick, but I don't really use it, nor do I unplug it frequently. Curiously, if I lose my mech packs [temporarily] then I will also lose the controls too. Doesn't happen often though.

Are you using Win ME? From experience & what I've heard, ME had issues with even Microsquish controllers.
Did your controller come with mapping software? If so try mapping your controls to the keyboard with it.

Windows XP. And I'll see if I can do that.
