Motherboard is a FIC AU-13 (nForce2 chipset). The optional A73 5.1 audio daughterboard came with it but is no longer installed. I have the latest nForce (2.45) drivers installed. Headset/mic is a Labtech Axis-002.

Problem: When I turn the mic on, I pick up a lot of "white" or EMI noise and when I speak, that gets transmitted as well. Also, I've noticed that the mic has to be a lot closer to my mouth in order to pick up my voice. Both factors lead to my not being heard at all or at best, with a lot of static.

I've rolled back the nForce drivers to the 2.03 files and still no go. I've tested the mic out on the wife's computer (FIC AN-19 VIA KT400 chipset), my stepson's computer (FIC AZ-11E VIA KT133 chipset), and on my son's computer (FIC AZ-31 VIA KM133 chipset) and the mic works flawlessly on those systems.

I've played with ALL possible audio settings in the nForce Tray. Nothing seems to work. tantrum.gif

Sounds like its picking electromag interference from the mobo somewhere. Can you get (borrow from someone maybe) a sound card to try in your system?

More than likely a ground somewhere. Just have to figure out where. Downloaded and installed the latest Realtek ALC650 driver and still doing the same thing. Would borrow the neighbor's soundcard but he moved a few months ago sad.gif

We talking about TS2 here? Have you tried going into audio settings in the TS2 interface and switching from 'direct sound' to 'wave' and vice versa? Juggling the devices around, etc. I've found very few people who couldn't make the thing work at all once they found the right combination.

I had that with my first mic...I just went out and bought a new mic and it worked fine wink.gif

Dunno if that'll fix your problem though

In your windows sounds and audio devices, click volume, advanced, make sure the mic is muted. If this doesnt work, mess around with the settings like metioned before.

Thanks all but it appears that the problem is a possible ground in the mic jack off the motherboard. None of the settings were able to change anything. Looks like a future soundcard purchase for me smile.gif

I have had similar problems with TS2.

I replaced my mic. That helped. I then tweaked the input settings. It is berable now, but not perfect. I haven't replaced the sound card yet.
