Ok, after playing AAO and BF1942 for a while, and with my history of breaking joysticks, I decided to try out K&M.

Problem is, when I goto Options to set my keys and mouse, I can't set Mouse buttons #4 or #5.
(MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 USB)

Now, the *strange thing* is, #4 and #5 show up as part of the Default settings for the mouse controls
(for something lame like weapon group swapping or something).

BUT, when I try to re-map them to something useful (radar settings, etc) they don't register as being entered into the
new task.

YET the #4 and #5 disappear from their Default settings, so it must be aware I've pressed them... eek13.gif

Help?

(yes, I highlighted the box under the Mouse column; yes, the box is orange; no, it doesn't register)....

Have the exact same problem with the same mouse, which actually works out ok as I tend to almost crush my mouse when brawling. =p

Run it through USB, drivers are installed but I'll check for updates.

Thing I don't get is that MERCs recognizes that I'm pressing 4/5 because it un-keys them from the Default setting
(so it detects the key pushes) but it won't enable them in teh new settings. Weird, eh?

Hmm, good idea...but then I'd have to use TS...and talk to you guys?? ohmy.gif wink.gif

EDIT: I'm going to try to enable the program-specific settings, and key Mouse 4&5 to other keys, and see if that get it.

...now, if only I can figure out which file is MERCs.exe I'll be all set... blink.gif

Another thing you can try if your software allows. Map those mouse buttons to keyboard keypresses and then set those keyboard keys to the functions you want to use in the game.

I have an Intellimouse like yours so I can help out some.

MW4 only recognizes mouse buttons 1 through 3. If you have the Intellipoint software installed, you can go into the mouse properties and there is a control panel for assigning mouse buttons to do whatever for whichever program you want. Add MW4 (Veng/BK/Merc) to it and assign the desired keystrokes to button 4 and 5 and you should be set. If the software works correctly, you should have button 4 and 5 working in game, but they won't show up in the user interface as being mapped.

Hope this helps.
