Just doing this to get an idea of how it looks on the forums.... making sure I have my matting right and what-not.
Gwydion
Gee Fury, I can tell you have been taking your graphics lessons from 'Card, he always makes the Dragon's Heavy Gauss go on the wrong arm too. cool.gif Looks good though. (I've seen that skin before smile.gif ).
Nova
Nice work! Fury.
FireFox
Hahaha.. does that mean he had to fix urs at one point before he got it right?! tongue.gif

Good guess. biggrin2.gif
Sandman
Oh hey! Very nice! Thanks Fury!

I'd like to make some changes, but it's a good work nonetheless. And the thought is mucho appreciated! smile.gif

Could you send me the PSD?
Kalie
Do I see an Alpha Strike logo in that sig? smile.gif

Looks like Sandman made it in cool.gif
Fury
No probs, Sandman... just make sure 'Card puts your AS logo in and ye be good to go. I'm not in the least disapointed, as I really loved some of those images and may now use them for myself biggrin2.gif . I do, however, reserve the right to call you an ungrateful whelp every chance I get lol.gif .

Considering the amount of torment I have laden upon 'Card for Mech images of late, it's no wonder the camo looks awfully familiar to you guys.... But he's a patient Sig Sensei.
Sandman
"Ungrateful"? Wha?! Nononono! I appreciate your help! I'm VERY grateful! I'm touched, even!

Pleeeeeeeeaaase don't hate me!!!!!!

Fix Gwyd's at one point? Ha! Try... Oh, I guess about 12 points. cool.gif (and that was just the most recent effort)

As for this Dragon's arm... when I sent Fury that image, the HGauss arm was on the correct side. What happened to it beyond that point is entirely beyond my control.

As far as the sig is concerned... excellent work, Fury. The font, the AS logo, the background image, and the right-side image are ideal, and the balance is good. With the Dragon, I think it'd help to apply the sharpening tool to that bad boy a few times, and then maybe make it a bit shorter. It'd give the sig a nice symetry if the Dragon was the same height as the right-side image. (making it slightly shorter than the AS logo)

Also, may want to downsize it to 500 pixels wide. at 525 x 220, she's a little hefty. cool.gif
Fury
As for the Dragon, yes, I flipped it. Sue me. (oh wait..... Gwyd actually can....) tongue.gif What I was looking at was the curve of the mech, not correct weapons placement. One of those instances where trying to maintain balance and flow just doesn't blend with nit-pickiness wink.gif Regarding sharpening the focus on it, I think my problem there was the emboss I put on it. When you change image sizes, the emboss can get thrown out of whack, and now the mech has a little too much. And it probably needs to be sharpened up some as well smile.gif . I agree with you on the size of the mech, it does need to be decreased. Another thing that will apparently be a pain in my rear is getting the "just right" matting to put behind these things when I save them for the web. I think I need to test it bunches and then see if I can make a custom color swatch to use specifically for that. Or perhaps it's just a matter of adjusting the transparency when I save the .gif, I dunno. Anyone have any idea's on that? Free, any thoughts?

I've now sent the .psd file over to Sandy, so I'm hoping he does something uber cool with it and will then tell me how he did it.

Just noticed your tagline Fury.......

How can a lawyer be pure?

Anyway, about loosing some detail when you resize the image. I'm not sure if this works in Photoshop, but in psp I would set the pixel density to it's highes setting. Has to be choosen when the file is created wink.gif

EDIT: Oh yeah. Sorry unsure.gif I was racking my brain about the transparency thing and forgot to say how good your sig designs are looking smile.gif

As for the transparency, there is one thing that always gets me is edges with partial transparency. On the psd file it looks great, but when you convert it to a gif, pixels are either fully opaque or fully transparent, and quite often it doesn't look good at all sad.gif

One trick is to save a copy of your sig, and merge all the layers, and then mask the one merged layer. Everything either fully transparent or fully opaque. That might help with some of the trouble areas around the edges. That's where I tend to have the most 'fun' when I'm making a sig to be saved as a gif file.

Mechwarrior + Boobs.... to quote Xiom...................................................... NIPPLE!!!
Sandman
Yeah....unfortunately, those "burrs" and general uneven edges you see mostly on the ends of the letters are less due to bad transparancies and more to shoddy workmanship because I lack the font WC used.

I basically eyeballed it with my lasso tool.

It'll be a few days until I can summon up the motivation to tackle it again....

Oh, the avatar just sucks. But it was the result of 5 mins work of image splicing.....so...
