This one is for Wildcat (my better half) who plays Delta Force Task Force Dagger in TEF squad smile.gif

And this one is for me of course smile.gif

Ive been toying around with using some nice black and white logos and trying to spice them up a bit.

What the ... what kind of crawling mech is that? It looks BRUTAL.... look at those big guns.
[NS13]Vertigo
If memory serves, I think that's a Barghest.
Tamaraw
Thanks Vertigo... and its name sounds scary too. smile.gif
Gnosis
Looks like a giant Lizard....might be a fun one to pilot biggrin2.gif
[NS13]Vertigo
Yep, it's a Barghest. 70 tons, with 2 IS ERLL, and an IS LBX20. Max speed of around 88 kph. Oh, and it's a QuadMech, so I doubt well be seeing it in MW4.

Free.... I gotta know. Have you changed programs or altered the way you do things in what you are using? The reason that I ask is because the last three sigs have had the most crisp, and outstandingly lush colors. Those are phenomenal- especially your better half's.

Whatever it is you're doing, share the info.... I'd love to know

Thanks Fury smile.gif

I'm still using Paint Shop Pro 7, and Xara for the text.

I just started using masks, merged layers, and re-touch tools much more heavily, and have been experimenting with more of the programs functions. In particular I've been using the Retouch set of tools alot more, and have been playing with how it saves the gif file. The settings on how it saves the file makes a pretty big difference in how the final product looks.

Basicly I've just been diving deeper into how PSP works smile.gif

Since I've noticed a lot of similarities between PSP and Photoshop (which I use), could I sucker you into expanding a bit on how you are saving your .gifs?

As far as how I save the gif files goes, I'm not really sure I understand wth is going on myself, I just tinker with it a little more now and pay attention to the preview window.

There are three or four settings that reall screw me up from time to time.
%transparency --- with gifs the pixel is visible or it isn't, but with my psp drawing they can be anywhere from 1 to a 100% transparent, what this does is tells it to make any pixel above a certain transparency level visible

Dithering --- Don't use it myself

Color Selection --- I use either Median Cut or Octree (WebSafe looks like crap in comarison 3/4 of the time)

#of colors --- When the file is too big, lowering the colors saving it, and then (only if it looks rough) running a smoothing pass with the retouch tool helps get the file size down and fixes any rough spots made by lowering the colors in the first place.

blending partially transparent pixels --- you can either use the existing color at full opacity, or blend it (at full opacity again) with a color of your choosing.

The biggest problem for me is when I have partially transparent pixels around the edges of the drawing, I have to play with the %transparency alot in those cases, and sometimes retouch spots, because it just won't look right.

I have Photoshop somewhere around here, I'll install it soon, and see what the differences are (can't remember specifics) so I can better help you Photoshop users with some techiques, though I still have alot to learn myself smile.gif
