Well, you've heard the story. I can't connect to multiplay with MW4 whether by LAN, Zone, or IP.
On the Zone it just gives me a "Cannot connect to server. May have networking problems" when I doubleclick on a game. On LAN, games simply never show up and players are kicked off immediately.

And it can't be firewalls, drivers, or my connection, because other games like Freelancer work [at least in LAN. Haven't tried actual online game yet].

And considering how many times MW "forgets" I have Mechpacks installed, I'm inclined to believe it's the game. Not me.

I had the same problem...said the same thing.

Turned out to be the NAT firewall on my router. It was filtering ports even after it LOOKED like I had them all open like I should.

Check again...turn EVERYTHING off and see if it connects.

I had a similar issue that turned out to be related to my firewall.

Everything worked fine for awhile, then suddenly I couldn't connect to any online MW4 games. All my other games worked fine, but MW4 just wouldn't connect. I could go into the firewall settings, make sure it was allowing MW4, with no luck. Shut down the firewall, no luck. Open all the right ports in my router, no luck. Finally hung my machine out in the DMZ, no luck.

I was pretty much ready to give up playing altogether when Jimbo talked me into uninstalling my old Freedom Firewall software entirely and installing Tiny Personal Firewall instead. After that, everything worked fine and I could connect to games with no trouble.

Turns out there was something corrupted somewhere and some issue between my router (Netgear RP614) and my firewall so it was saying it was allowing it when it wasn't.

I don't know if your situation might be similar, but it might be worth a look.

Was it just MW, or did none of your games work?

Are you using a DSL/Cable router? Even after I overcame the security/XP problems & turned off Universal Plug & Play I had intermittent connection problems but installing a firmware upgrade to the router it all works great now.

IMO, XP Home is the most frustrating version of Winblows ever. The hooks it has to MSN, PassPort & Instant Messaging are deep & leave some gaping holes & brick walls. I've got swappable boot harddrives, 1 for biz (XP) & 1 for family (ME) & I'm seriously considering getting a 3rd drawer/drive & running Win 98 SE for gaming.

I empathize with you. I had 3 days snowed in here in the Denver area to hammer it all out & I ALMOST RAN OUT OF BEER!!! So keep pluggin', it's worth it. cool.gif
