Ah curses. With Microsoft being kind enough to stab me in the back I have been without my glorious mechs for about 6 months now... and I can't take it any more.

THAT'S GREAT! Now can someone please tell me why every time I try to open my game I get an error message saying it has a problema nd has to close? I have reinstalled it several times adn even gone so far as to clean the registry of any mention of it. ANd yet, each time I reinstall...nothin. Same issue. I need a GURU!!!!

ah thanks folks. now to try and get the mekpacks working... winpatch keeps crashing (or rather... freezing and not doing anything while my task manager assures me its working) as i try to apply it >_<

I dunno Ark...it happens on either disc, one or two. *shrug* maybe I'll snag another one from Amazon and see what happens.

I have no clue how to fix either one of your problems. I'm just bumping the thread to get the attention of more people in the hopes that someone else can help.

Arklite - try walking away from your PC when it's running the winpatch. Depending on the speed of your PC and the amount of memory you have it can take a long time. Just let it run and see if it will install.

TBolt - I'm not sure about your problem. I believe if you have a problem with a disk the pop up will tell you so. Have you tried Mektek? Or better yet is there another computer that you can try to load MW on? Just to eliminate the disks as the source of the problem.

Yeah, I have my kids machine. It's not connected to teh interwebs, but I can still load it on there. I'll let ya know. and I suppose I can try Mektek. It's just I always feel like such a N00b there. Prolly cuz I am one but that is an entirely different matter!

Get a priest (or Spybot S&D) to exorcise your machine; it's possessed.

Seriously, if your discs work on one PC but not on another; it's something with that PC - maybe some malware messing up with the copy protection for MW4, or... maybe the disc drive is developing a defect?

I vaguely recall something about CDILLA and TurboTax causing problems with the game. If you don't have anything that modifies CDILLA on your system, you might try removing it fully in case it managed to get borked somehow, and reinstalling. Some virus and spyware scanners tend to pick up CDILLA as well, so you might have accidentally deleted it too.

There's an IS/Clan pack safecast utility out there, but the only link I found for it on the forums went to MWL, and I don't have an account to login anymore.

Edit: Though, come to think of it, it was predominantly a 'Mech Pack problem and I don't think it crashed the base game. Still, worth a shot I guess.
