What type or brand of headset would work with TF2 (or other online games with voice coms)?

I've always sworn by USB-based headsets, like my current Logitech set. They have their own "soundcard" built in, and thus just seem to be much less hassle to setup than one which plugs into your PCs soundard.

This is the one I use:

Although there are cheaper and more expensive versions available, naturally =).

The ones Ment mentioned are rather nice, but I found the ear-pads a bit uncomfortable and it didn't fit my head all that well. Seeing as I use my headphones for everything, I ended up having to get another pair.

PLANTRONICS .Audio 350 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Over The Head Stereo Headset

They're nice and big, fit comfortably over the ear and are pretty sturdy. About my only complaint is that I've had a couple pair go bad due to breaks in the wires. Which was ultimately my fault. tongue.gif The cords are so long that I always seem to roll over them with my chair at some point. I fixed this by keeping the excess twist tied and hung from below my desk.

I think there's a USB pair as well, but the the only version I can find on Newegg is the
PLANTRONICS GAMECOMPRO1 USB Connector Supra-aural Gaming Stereo Headset
which is a bit expensive. Nice, but expensive. I'm fairly certain I saw the other version in USB format when I went to pick up my most recent pair (though it was a few bucks more).

i use a pair of medusa ones, along with a soundblaster x-fi card. amazing sound, needs multiple inputs from your soundcard to work well though

^ These are awesome.

Gaming with them is of course an amazing experience, but even listening to music is better - The sub channel gives awesome low-end response, and you can actually hear mids and highs clearly, since they're not coming from the same driver.

Now I have to watch this Serenity DVD with them. tongue.gif

Kinda old topic but just posting what I use.

Razor Barracuda surround sound headset http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826153002

and Creative X-Fi gamers sound card. Have headset setup in 5.1 surround and works perfect.

Hello Dancer,

I have a Plantronics headset in perfect condition. Great sound quality, and it uses your sound card headphone and microphone jacks, instead of using up one of your USB ports.

I will be going on a long trip and I am trying to travel as light as possible. Therefore, I am getting rid of some things. If you are patient I can post these to you.

You can see it in http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2138/234662..._ab2fe1b45a.jpg

Let me know.
