Okay guys here is the deal: I am going to be away from the hosue this Saturday whent he time rolls around for my Solaris league drops. I have Mercs loaded on my dad's machine and all that no problem, but he has DSL and I have dial up so I know there are going to be some issues that will creep up when I try to go online with it there (something he has not done yet). Are there some threads here you could point me to that may allow me to know what potential problems to expect?
Thanks again for all the help over the many months since I landed here.

As long as you don't have any connection problems all should be good. I believe Spiff went from dial-up to DSL recently so he might have some insight for you.

Cool thanks Rat. I think that's what is worrying me. I have seen a lot of guys move to DSL and suddenly it's "I can't connect, I can't connect!" ports and firewalls and all kinds of stuff, not to mention that my dad is a securoty nut and probably has his sytem set on the "Fort Knox" level which might also make things weird. It might be worht it jus to take hte bloody skunks. tongue.gif

Okay guys, got my dad set up with mercs and we are gettin the error message of "Cannot join server, there may be networking problems of the server may be gone." ON EVERY SERVER. We have killed off his firewalls and toned doen his Internet security. He is on a Cable Modem (ROADRUNNER) so what else should we try to get him in the zone??
THanks guys..

EDIT: We by passed his router connecting directly to the cable Modem and he was able to get into a server, so now we have to figure out the router issues. Any suggestions as to where to look?
Spiff
Most likely the router is blocking ports Mercs needs to work. You'll have to log into it (do you still have the instruction book for the router around?) and open 'er up. Here's the ports:

You can either do that, or turn DMZ on, which has the effect of letting all traffic through. Since he seems a little security conscious, you may not want to do that, or you'll want to turn it back off once you're done playing. I've got the DMZ set up to let all stuff through to my computer at home, and I've never had a problem. I don't worry about it much.

Thanks SPiff! I have sent that to him as well and will let you know how it goes. If you guys run into a player on the opens named "REB" then that's more than likely him. Blast him into bits for me will ya? tongue.gif
