....but where the heck are all the mech guides gone ?!?

(i found some at the main site, but if i recall it correctly there has been many more, like one for the argus, a "nova cat usage" guide and also a "beginners guide" from luxor ballistic)

Please, could someone tell me what happened to the guides ?!?

Hey Didymus. Cool that you can still remember me ! cool.gif

I'm still playing that dang old game whenever i can, but actually RL cirumstances have prevented me from doing so. (think i can get back in the end of july or so)

Would be great to wing with you again. smile.gif

Apart from that..........i've already been there (where Maestro pointed me to), and this was what i meant. There have been several other guides at the old site wich arent over there. As for example: (as far as i can remember) there has been a "how to group your weapons" guide, a nova cat hill hump guide, a guide for the highlander plus the guides i've mentioned above. Just was curious what happened to them since i wanted to read through them once again.
Thunderbolt
Yeah actually I noticed that too when the newly redesigned Institute site went online. I didn't caqre as Ihad already cut andpasted them into MS wod files and printed them out and made a nice Mechwarrior 4 manual for my sons who now want to learn the game. If you guys need electronic copies I should still have them. Lemme know.

Yeah... I'm usually too busy to play much, but I occasionally drop around (unlike what Spiff thinks). I dumped my old joystick recently (twas poo), and I'm cutting it close on my apartment payment coming up, so I can't get a new one at the moment (and I can play mouse and keyboard, but I'm terrible with it... biggest problem is I can't stand the lack of a throttle). I haven't played extensively since January, though, so Spiff's comment is fair enough. If/when I get a joystick, I'll let you know--it'd be a lot of fun to play with you again sometime. smile.gif

*waves at TBolt* Not much going on... you? And yep, I know about CMO's site. wink.gif

I figured you would but like a good soldier I pass on good intelligence when I get the chance. biggrin2.gif ]

BTW if you're really looking for a decent and cheap joystick Saitek has a 20.00 basic flight stick with handle twist, throttle and 6 buttons. It's not like Rat's big expensive one or anything but it has worked well for me lo these many months since my Logitech extrme 3d pro bit the dust.
Things are good here bro. Hope school is going okay or did you graduate?

EDIT: that Saitek stick is available at Walmart. cool.gif
WaddeHaddeDudeda
Heck, if a new stick would bring Didy back i'd buy and send it to him !!! POW.gif

Good catch. I thought we had a MKII guide and an Argus guide as well. Where the heck did they go? Freelancer?
Thunderbolt
The Highlander guide and the Uziel Guide are missing as well.

We're looking into this.

School's going pretty well... I'm still playing the major game but I think I may settle down on this one; it just sounds interesting and not too narrow in focus: http://www.sesp.northwestern.edu/ugrad/conc/loc/curriculum/. Along with International Studies (http://www.intstudy.northwestern.edu/), which will include Chinese (I'm still studying it and plan on sticking it out at least through this next year). smile.gif I had been toying with the idea of picking up Arabic, too, but I decided that it'd be more worth my time now to pick up things other than languages (which won't disappear by the time I graduate, hopefully).

Also, I'd accept the offer of the stick, Wadde, but I think it'd be a bit pricey to ship it all the way from Germany. Anyway, it's only two weeks until I get my next paycheck, and I may order one then or a little bit later--my laptop has developed a bit of an overheating problem and I want to get a cooling pad and see how much that helps before buying a stick. There's not much point in me buying a stick if I can't play. wink.gif It seems to do all right on the cooler days, but above 70 or 75 degrees my computer turns itself off when I try to play games. (And no a/c! *tear* oh well smile.gif)

ps. nice sig. smile.gif

Organizational change is covered quite well when one studies Organizational Development, Didy. OD is a broader field, with much more application in the job market than just a concentration in Org change. I developed quite a passion for OD topics in school and currently am the community relations officer for our local chapter of the national Organizational Development Network (ODN). If your passions are running in this direction, keep in mind that several HR functions have recently been reclassed as OD functions, and eventually the two fields will merge. I see that as inevitable and it is the impetus behind me seeking an MBA in HR management, while pursuing the idea of a second Bachelors in OD topics if I can find a school here that does it. It is an amazing field with a lot of growth potential as we discover more and more how the psychology of organizations affect the way businesses develop and how we can direct those forces to profitable advantage in the market place. GO FOR IT!
Didymus
Organizational Change is part of the major I'm looking at. I'm not going to go into all the details (if you really want to, you can look at it for yourself), but the major lends itself to a lot of different possibilities. Also, to the best of my knowledge neither "Organizational Change" or "Organizational Development" is offered at Northwestern.

That's a shame it's not offered. The field itslef has grown so rapidly that many schools are not caught up to it. The closest you're probably going to get where you're at is the program you've outlined to me and linked to above, or perhaps they're still calling it industrial psychology. Sorry for the confusion...I thought that the link WAS your major not a part of it. My bad Brudda. crazyhamer.gif
Didymus
No, the link there is the major - it's called "Learning and Organizational Change."

Didn't notice this thread till now crazyhamer.gif

I'll get on it asap. I haven't looked into it yet, but my best guess would be that I messed up when I started trying to break them down into sub-categories to make navigating through them a little more logical.

I should have the problem fixed by the end of the weekend if the problem is what I think it is. If not, it will still get fixed and I'll let you guys know what's hapenning cool.gif

EDIT: OK the guides (19 not published) are all still there smile.gif

But they were ones that needed a little updating. So what I'm going to do is release them in a new 'Re-Submit' sub-section in the Mechwarrior section. And we'll need some updated variant files, because I have no idea what version of MW the variants in these guides were created for. Some date back to Vengeance.

If you guys see any errors feel like contributing new variants for a certain guide, please don't hesitate. You help would be greatly welcome cool.gif

I still have to fix them up, so they are in a temporary section called 'The Missing Guides' cool.gif

Good to see they are back. Nice job. (Though it looks like the author and number of views info has disappeared from the rest of the guides since the lost ones have returned.)
