Singleplayer Problems Options

Greetings Team Banzai, i just recently fell in Love with MW again. Ive got Blackknight laying around and i wanted to play trough the Singleplayer Campaign to practice and cause i like the Singleplayer Part.

Now im frustratred with Blackknight, as soon as Mission 2( in that Mission you play Bait in a small Mech and lead enemys to your Legions Alpha Lance, ehm Alpha? i had to destroy all the Mech, those Alpha Lance pilots couldnt hit anything) i stucked and had to replay the Mission alot of Times. Now im Mission 3 and stucked again, Mission didnt completed.

Anyone knows why this is happening so often ?

Then i wanted to play some Venguance and i found out that the Control Option to look behind is missing. I checked several Times, and i this Option isnt there, thats minor but strange. Then i wanted to try some Practice with Bots in Collosseum, i remember that a LvL 9 Bot was allways a good Challenge and they had nearly Perfect Aim. Now a Lvl 9 Bot is aiming so bad, that i cant speak of Practice anymore.

I hope someone got an Idea, Thx in Advance.

Update: I solved the Problem with the Missing Look Behind Mech Option. But theres still this very strange Problem with the Bots, i played another Server and the Level 9 Bots had good aiming like i remember, but when i host, my Bots are horrible even with non stock mechs.

You may want to check your bot scripts- I don't know exactly what to do with them, myself, but someone around here may know how you can get some better bots.

Actually, people always have better and much more interesting intelligence than bots- why not play against them instead?

Because many people are shy. I was reluctant to go onine on many games because I was so shy.

Yeah, I was shy, too, but bots do get old. People can get old after a while, too, but they're always more unpredictable than bots, and they make for much more interesting conversations.

Something is wrong, but i dont know what. Just for Reference, i reinstalled the Game then tried out the Bots and while afk a Level 9 Bot doesnt kill me in like 5 minutes. Any Singleplayer Mission(i tried with Trial of.. and iirc on elite they were not so easy) feels cheap even on Elite Difficulty. Thats disgusting, i dont know what to do. I still want to play some Singleplayer

I really hope someone got an idea or can verify, if theres really something wrong. Thx in Advance.

I don't know anything about bot scripts, but Giscard does. look in the forums for a thread about his new single player missions(Minnesota tribe). He should have a link to his developement site(mechstorm, i believe), contsct him there.

On Elite Level the Opponents miss like 90% of their Shots on stationary Targets, isnt there something wrong? It kills all Fun i could have with the Singleplayer Campaign be it BK or Mercs.

Im so confused, i reinstalled Venguance and tried Triasl on Elite Level, and the mechs are missing all the Time.

Level 9 Bots should be alot better and after Reinstalling, shouldnt it be fixed?

Now the Control Option for Looking Behind, which is Default "T" is missing again, before i would reset Controls and i would be there again, now its lost again.

Im starting to get frustrated.

I tried a simple Test, ive got the Mercs Downloadable Demo, its quick to install.

I reinstalled the Demo and tried Solaris on weakest and Hardest Difficulty, and its all the same. I felt no Difference at all. The Enemy Mechs are missing all the Time. Is this working as intended? Whats wrong with my PC?

Same for Venguance and Blackknight, i remember playing the Venguance Campaign on Elite, and it was fun and challenging. I tried GatorBait Map with a Level 9 Stock Novacat and the Bot wouldnt kill me in 10 Minutes. Now i really dont know if theres something wrong with my Perception

Last Time i played MW4 it was with a Different Mainboard and FX Card. Could that scrue the AI of my Mechwarrior Games? Dont think so, but i really dont know.

Funny, i installed Vanguance on a Friends PC and the Bots and Singleplayer all run like they should. Seems its my PC ) ; Im a Blackbox User, i really dont know what could affect that and if its Software related.

This is Proof my Perception is right and something is wrong with my PC.

Pls dont let me down^^i hope someone got at least an Idea, why this is happening.

Not a clue, Feno. The botscripts should be the same out of the box on any machine. Do YOU move any more slowly on your machine, or is it just the bots?

bah i hate bots, either they play like Sliv (HUD and leg you) or are a joke and fall if you breath on the....

Thx for the Replys, the Game runs fine on my PC, i can turn all the Graphic Options up.

Its not just the Bots, its the Singleplayer Mechs as well.

I tried it on both PCs and theres a big Difference. I want to play trough the BK and Mercs Campaign Elite Level, but not like that.

A Level 9 Bot or any Mech on Elite Level aims well, not in my Games/Campaign/Instant Action/whatever. I didnt felt like me or the Mechs moves to slow or something. Mostly their Aiming.

I will phone Microsoft, but i guess they wont be of much help.

You mention you have a "blackbox computer". I assume that your computer meets the game specs on the box?
Sorry can't think of anything else tat would cause the overall slowness, well, except for viruses, worms, etc. stealing cycles.

I mentioned, im a Blackbox User^^This means, im a User and i dont know much about PCs.

I had some Virus Problems a while ago, i will try to reinstall my OS, hope it changes something.

Never i said slowness. The Game just runs fine, its the Aiming of the AI.

Microsoft Support told me to update my Driver, now MW doesnt run anymore, i diont know if is the Sound or the Graphic Driver, im trying atm.

Mmmmm. Have you tried running with sound card insteads of the AC97?

I tried running with Sound Acceleration off, something that the Microsoft Support Guy told me as a fix. I dont got an extra Soundcard, i use the onboard one. Do you mean i should try with Sound Device off?

My thoughts on this would be...

Whatever clock cycles your computer isn't using for actually running the game, it uses for 'bots. That's why when it comes to servers, you'll see that the 'bots get tougher depending on the machine that's doing the hosting. Better machine = More available clock cycles = smarter 'bots, and more 'bots moving and firing at the same time. On a limited machine, you get dumber 'bots, and some of them will just stand around while the others (the ones getting the cycles) will move and shoot.

Now, on your machine, you should have plenty of cycles available to make your 'bots move and shoot and all that good stuff. It sounds to me like something is hogging your system resources. Have you done a Spyware/Virus check lately? I'd check Task Manager before you open the game, and see what percentage of your processor power is being used up when the comp is just sitting there idling. If it's a fairly high number (figure over 5% or at most 10% if all you have running is Windows) then you've got a problem.

Thx for the Reply. My Processor is allways under 5% when im not running anything. I used updated Bit Defender, Ad-Aware and Spybot and 2 more Virus Scanners.

I remember that Mechwarrior allways run fine. Now with a new Graphic Card and Mainboard even more, i can turn all Options High + AA.
The Game looks good, runs without any FpS Lag and the only Thing that feels bad in Multiplayer are many no damage hits on other Player, even when my Lateny is fine under 200 or even 100.

But when i try to host a Game with Bots or when im Playing any Singleplayer Misson then the Problem starts. The Bots and Enemy Mech just plain miss more then 90% of their Shots on close Range stationary Target, on Elite or Level 9

I tried installing my old Graphic Card but it doesnt changed anything. So i guess it must be my Motherboard or anything Software related.

Singleplayer is an important Part of MW for me. Hard to enjoy when the Mission are no Challenge.

Today i had my Copy of Mercs in the Mail. I still cant play any Singleplayer Mission cause the AI is like described above.

Now i was hoping to have some offline Fun with the Banzai Boot Camp Maps, but i cant get them to work.

I tried bootcamp1&2 for Vengeance but it crashed when i launched the Mission. Then i tried the Mercs version, but it seems that the AI there is bugged as well on my PC. When i enter the Brawling Pit and shoot the Mechs nothing happens.

Any Ideas? Thx in Advance

What OS, and what programs (if any) are loaded at start up? I'd shut down any loaded programs, and if the comp is running xp, I'd turn off the fancy menu fades, etc. It's a long shot, but you never know...

Dumb question time. Did you reformat the hard drive when you reinstalled windows? Or reinstalled it over the previous windows install.

Is it possable that a another program is goffing it up?

I reformart the Drive before Installing, but its just a Partition.
